HOUSEBUILDER PERSIMMON’S GIVES £1,000 CASH BOOST FOR COVENTRY HOSPITAL RADIO STUDIO FUND

The cash for the Hospital Radio Fund which was donated via University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire Charity has come from Persimmon Homes Central, through its Community Champions scheme.

Since 2015 it has provided match-funding for local good causes with two donations of up to £1,000 every month.

Kirsty Gane, the charity’s grants officer, said a campaign had been launched by the radios volunteers to replace the 25-year-old equipment and had reached the half-way mark at the start of last year.

“Sadly however, Covid-19 put a stop to all community fund-raising and bucket collections which the radio volunteers usually carry out.

The radio station is managed by an elected committee of volunteers and they broadcast to the patient’s bedside and online via their website free of charge 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week.

The newer equipment will make presenting shows easier and also improve the content quality.

Sarah Preston, sales director designate for Persimmon Homes Central, said it was delighted to help the campaign.
