I have had an incredible journey. My story is brimming with passion and perseverance and it’s clear music has been a lifelong companion to me. From my humble beginnings at the Gainsborough café where my mother worked and myself listening to the café jukebox, to being inspired by Pete Waterman at the Locarno Ballroom when I was 16 years old, and then hitting the road as a DJ, my road show was Harlacon Disco. I have seen and listened to the evolution of music first hand across decades.
My adventures as Harry Jay, spinning tunes at Weddings, Birthdays, Pubs, and Nightclubs and have brought joy to so many people and my legacy that over 30 years.
I am now, presenting a show called “The Fast Lane” on “Coventry Hospital Radio”, it seems like the perfect way to continue sharing my love of music with all the people. It’s truly inspiring that I have embraced so many genres and eras, keeping my passion alive through each chapter of my life.
If I was asked, what’s been the most memorable or rewarding moment of being a DJ so far? or, is there a song I hold particularly close to your heart from my years in music, it would be (George McCrae, Rock You Baby) this song was my Wedding day song, (Bob Marley, No Woman No Cry, which references Bob’s childhood that can be found in the Government yard in Trench town, Kingston, Jamaica and I think he was a music Prophet) and my best genres are Reggae, Scar, Disco Rock and many many more.
