BOB GRIFFITHS - PRESENTER

Have you missed any of my shows, Don’t worry, to hear them again just select this button.

I really wanted to be a drummer but my wife couldn’t stand the noise! So, I joined Coventry Hospital Radio in 2016. More to the point, it’s great to be able to entertain and help people going through a difficult time.

My show is at 1pm on Wednesday afternoon. Fabulous feel-good music from our youth – 50s, 50s, 70s and some 80s onwards – classic singles and album tracks from established artists and hand-picked new sounds.

Music was always playing at home in the 50s. Broadway musicals and singers like Johnny Ray, Nat ‘King’ Cole and Frank Sinatra. Dad played big band – big fan of Glen Miller – as well as classical records.

And then along came Elvis. What an extraordinary period: Buddy, Ricky, Chuck, Don & Phil, Eddie and then ‘Oh Boy’ on TV with Cliff, The Shadows and Marty.

I grew up in Birmingham. In the 60s Brum had great rock bands, jazz and folk. I played drums for a spell then sensibly put family and career first.

Now living quietly – no drums – with my wife and Norfolk terrier in Stratford-upon-Avon.
