Become part of our team as a Ward Visitor

Colin & Annette Gutteridge at the bedside

Coventry Hospital Radio (CHR) are always on the lookout for enthusiastic new recruits who have a few hours to spare each week to join the station as a ‘Ward Visitor’.

If you are 16 years or older and looking for something to do during your spare time then why not apply to join the award winning team here at Coventry Hospital Radio

We are looking for warm friendly people with good communication skills to:-

  1. Visit patients at their bedside and inform them that they can listen to Coventry Hospital Radio free of charge over the Spark tsl bedside terminal, via our App and online at www.coventryhospitalradio.org
  2. Inform patients that we broadcast 24 hours a day via the mediums listed above and promote our FREE Request line number and inform patients how to get a request played on air.
  3. Assist patients to register themselves on the Spark tsl System to enable them to listen to Coventry Hospital Radio. Also show them how to use the Bedside Terminal.
  4. Distribute Coventry Hospital Radio Leaflets and Spark tsl Headphones.
  5. Take a note of any Bedside terminals that are not working and report them to Spark tsl so they can be repaired.
  6. Respect patients dignity and understand when patients do not wish to be bothered.

Volunteers will need to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check with UHCW Voluntary Services and inform them of any health related issues before starting with Coventry Hospital Radio.

What skills do I need?

Volunteers don’t need any skills as full training will be given to get you started, all we ask is to be able to be friendly,  enthusiastic, approachable and be cheerful.
