Paul Sheehan

I started volunteering with Coventry Hospital Radio in February 2019 after being encouraged by my parents, both of whom are volunteers, my mum at the Arden Centre and my dad at Myton Hospice.

At present I am a request collector volunteering between 7pm and 9pm on Tuesday evenings but also introduce some requested songs on air.

The reason I volunteer is to put a smile on the faces of the patients and to meet new people.

Most of us use the NHS throughout our lives so it’s nice to give something back in a small way.

At present I am employed as a customer service advisor for a housing association and in my spare time am a big rugby fan and season ticket holder at Coventry RFC, traveling to cheer the team on both home and away.

I am a keen film buff and try to visit the cinema as often as possible to see the latest releases and have a large and ever-increasing DVD collection. My favourite film of all time is Zulu.

I am also a Sci-Fi geek and a Doctor Who fanatic. I have met seven of the actors who have portrayed the Doctor and got their autographs.

My favourite music is the 1980s and I have seen Depeche Mode twice, The Pet Shop Boys, OMD, and Morrissey three times in concert.

I am a history lover and love visiting museums and old buildings, especially National Trust Properties as I have been a member for Several years, Oh! And I am a sucker for cheesy old horror films from yesteryear.
