Gary Davies

NICKNAME: Ironside,

GENRE OF MUSIC: I play all suitable genre from the 50's through to present day

TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF: I am a recycled teenager who started with hospital radio in 2010 after suffering a stroke a few years earlier, I have been involved with music for most of my life having played the trumpet and guitar for many years, as well as running a mobile disco in the 70's.

WHAT IS YOUR SHOW ABOUT? I present 3 shows each week, Wednesdays show is a bit of everything covering requests collected from around the hospital. Fridays show is totally 60's, presenting the top 20 as it stood that day in the decade. Sundays show is a change of genre completely with an hour of Big Band and Swing Music.

FAVOURITE GROUP: I don't have a particular favorite, but any tracks that you can understand the words to or an instrumental track will suffice.

WHAT CHR MEANS TO ME: CHR is a way to be involved with a great team of people who are all after the same goal, and that is to make sure that YOU the patients are kept entertained and occupied while in the hospital, also to me it is a way of repaying a little bit of what I have received from the hospital in the past.

A BRIEF BIOGRAPHY: Born and bred in Coventry many years ago and educated at President Kennedy School.
During the 70's I was a weekend Dj at The Alhambra in Coventry city centre, unfortunately due to progress this venue is no longer there, it used to stand behind Sainsbury's where today you can find BBC CWR Studio's,
I am happily married with 3 grown up children and 6 grandchildren to keep me occupied.
